virginia beach surf Fishing Report

back to overcast today, but still gave it a shot. caught 2 small flounders, nothing to brag about but hey, it's fishing! used a hard plastic lure. it was cool seeing some dolphin in the distance too. just being out there made my day.

sunny skies finally! went at dawn, felt great. caught a few nice drum, the biggest was around 24 inches! used cut bait, and I scored just when the tide was changing. can't wait to cook some up for dinner!

patchy rain again today, but still decided to head out to the beach. no luck with the big fish but pulled in a few small sea bass. light tackle worked better than I thought. the weather was kinda dreary but I still had a nice time just being out there.

what a day! sunny and warm finally! hit the surf around 6 am, got a bunch of croakers. tried out my new rod and reel, 7 ft graphite and I was just loving it. caught 5 croakers, biggest was about a foot long. they were munching on shrimp, good times!

got caught in a lil rain today while surf fishing! but I managed to catch a decent striper, maybe 22 inches. used a popper and it was thrilling. water was choppy but the fish were biting. always love the thrill of fishing in unpredictable weather.
