nootka sound Fishing Report

On May 24, the sun peeked through the clouds a bit. Caught a couple of big pinks, maybe 8 pounds each. Used a flasher and it worked like a charm! Weather was nice for a change, felt good to finally get some sun after all the rain. Can't wait to go back!

May 19 was a total washout, heavy rain all day long. I thought it was a bad idea but still decided to test my luck. No bites at all, just finished the day cold and wet. Next time I gotta check the weather better before I head out.

May 13 was cloudy and chilly again. Managed to find a few fish near the kelp beds. Used my trusty old baitcaster and landed 4 nice salmon (all about 5 lbs). Nothing like that tug on the line! Really enjoyed the time out on the water.

So May 11 was a wet one, pouring rain all day. Honestly, I almost skipped it, but I wanted to test my new waterproof gear. Caught 2 smaller halibuts around 15 lbs each. They taste so good! Headed back soaked but happy. Gotta love the thrill!

May 9 was kinda grey and overcast but I went out anyway. Caught a couple of rock cod, and saw some big silvers jumping. Used a jig and it was so exciting! But man, the boat was rocking a bit in the wind. Still, can't complain too much!
